How long does a Contingent status on a real estate listing usually last?

The sellers received a contract on the place and since then the status on the listing has been Contingent. How long will it remain that way until it changes to Sold? And are there ever times where it falls through and it goes back on the market as Active?

Depends on what the contingency is? Is it contingent on the buyers selling their home? On them getting financing? Is it contingent on the sellers being able to get financing on a house they are wanting to move to? Is it contingent on a home inspection?

When the contingencies are met, that is when things move forward and you are pretty sure you have a 99.9% chance of things being sold.

Yes, there is always a chance that a contingency will fall through.

That will depend on the contract and what it is contingent on. Say it is contingent upon an acceptable home inspection to be done within 10 days. They have the inspection and do not accept the condition of the house. The contract is then done. There are many contingencies that could be put on a contract and the length of time is dependent upon what is agreed to in the contract.

Most times about 30 days. Ask the listing agent. This is a legit question and they will tell you.

Totally depends on the agreement between buyer and seller. It could be a week, two weeks, or much longer, for instance if a buyer needs to sell their own home and have asked for 30 or 60 days to do so.

In a boom market, contracts seldom contain any conditions between offer and confirmed sale. In this market, sellers will accept some pretty restrictive clauses.

Do properties ever go back on the market? Absolutely. The conditions on the offer are to give the buyer the chance to settle affairs, inspect, find financing, etc, and if any of those fail, the sale will fall through and the house will return to the market. Happens all the time.

Time frame from contingent to sold is 30 to 45 days. Until all contingencies are removed such as Home inspections, Loan commitment etc. It changes to sold status when the Title transfers.
There are many things that could make a contract fall apart in which case the home would be back on the market.
If your monitoring a specific property with hopes of purchasing good luck to you.
