What are some good ideas for Christmas volunteering activities?

I am trying to research some fun ideas for our department at work to volunteer during the holidays in Houston, Texas. Last year the whole department volunteered for Elves and More and we helped build bicycles for children.

Does anyone have any good ideas for me and my co-workers? We are looking for a team-building opportunity that is a lot of fun and of course for a great cause!

    Thanks!

You know a lot of people need food right now...because of the economy.....have you thought of holding a HUGE food drive and then distributing the food to families you know that need it?
It's just one idea....but it could make a BIG difference in a LOT of lives.

Get the name of a needy family from your Salvation Army and buy them Christmas gifts and food for a Christmas meal.

Check out your local Soup Kitchen and Volunteer to serve others.

Help with the Toys for Tots program.

Buy winter coats, hats, gloves for needy children and donate them to your local charity organization.

Make or buy small gifts for the elderly take them to the local Nursing Home. Also sing Christmas Carols for them.

Help in some way with a local homeless shelter. You might get toiletries, blankets, etc. for them.

Check out your local Dog Pound. Buy collars, toys, food, treats, Kitty litter, rugs, towels, disinfectant, laundry detergent, and paper towels for the dogs and cats for the holiday.

Hope you find a good idea for this year.

Good luck and Bless you for caring about others.
