What do you think about the proposed stimulus package?

I'm a bit disgusted that yet again, companies will be given the money to do what they will and not help people in general. I am for the government giving the citizens the money to pay off debt and be able to go out and buy. I can tell you know, most people would spend money, if they weren't worried about their debt already. What do you think?

It won't work. It is simple waste and pandering. The average citizen will get nothing from it except the bill.

The stimulus program is not about the government "giving" money to anyone - not to companies and not to people. It's about FINALLY funding the repair of the nation's physical infrastructure. This will be done thru creating contracts at the national, state, and local levels which large and small companies can bid on to do the work. This will create lots and lots of JOBS. Any companies or organizations involved in the stimulus program will have to work their butts off to justify their participation.

The VERY LAST THING that the government needs to do is to just "give" money to people to buy stuff. People buying lots of stuff is EXACTLY how everyone got into debt in the first place. And if YOU get yourself into debt, the only person responsible for getting you out of debt is YOU. The government doesn't own you a damn thing.

America's asinine collective sense of entitlement is exactly what has gotten us into this situation. Wall Street and the banks were greedy and they don't deserve one stinking cent of my tax dollars for a "bailout". The idiot car manufacturers have been building crap for the past 30 years - if they had been using some semblance of a BUSINESS PLAN then they wouldn't need a bailout. The stupid airlines keep screwing up and going back to the government looking for another bailout.

The American way of doing things used to be acheivement through hard work (and maybe a little nepotism). NOBODY is "entitled" to a damn thing but death and taxes.

    Thus endeth the rant....

If they had not gotten bail outs, thousands of people would be out of a job, plus no one complained when Bush gave them out..why start now...

There is no stimulus package. This is nothing more than a huge pork package to give billions to companies that should have been let go to bankruptcy and come out the other side. We have just been stiffed. Government needs to CUT taxes for the people not throw a buck or two their way. Government cannot run companies and now they are going to and to the loss of the peoples. What a huge scam. Job losses will continue to soar while big business will be given a pass and their executives huge pay checks. Democrats always pay the big guys and let the little guys die. They talk big about taking care of the regular guy but their hearts are keeping the money themselves and putting everyone else on the dole. Welfare they love because it keeps the poorer people loving them. What makes this country great is people who work hard and achieve the American Dream, not lining up for soup and bread. Under this regime, more people will be lining up for soup and bread while the government lavishes in riches. This is socialism folks. Welcome. It seems to be that "hope and change" everyone wanted.
