I want to start gauging my ears?

what type of...earring(?) or gauge should i use? I know that you start with 12 but could someone give me a link or something that you(obviously someone with gauges and experiences with different kinds and sizes) would recommend.
Im not planning on making them BIG or anything i just like the little ones.

i am almost at an inch :]
i would reccomend you start with horse shoes.
then once youre at 0 use tapers.

or to save money you can just use tapers.

I had small ones, and i have many friends who have/have had them and i dont reccomend them. once they get big they make your ears smell bad. and if you wanna take them out it takes a long time to let them shrink back and they look gross while going back to normal. but if you really want them you can go to a Romancing The Stone if you have one in your mall. or here.

It's stretching. And most people (who've gotten pierced with a gun) are at 20 gauge. Gauge refers to the thickness of the jewelry, not the actual type of jewelry in your ear. So, the next size you'd want to go to is 18g. Any jewelry you like in 18g (that's not plastic) will work.

Go to hottopic. They have a great selection and could help you chose what's best for you live and in person. Btw, get ready for the STINK. for most people, there's a pretty pungent odor when gauging...

Usually a ear piercing is 20g or 18g. Between 18g to 8g cresents are the easiest to use to bump up (you dont have to bump up one at a time, to me its a waste of money) but when you get to 6g and on tapers are the best. It took me 2 months to get to 7/16"
