I want to shoot a short student film but all i have is an idea so far. Any suggestions on where to start?

Should I buy a camera or rent one? What type of camera should I be looking for? Should I try and fund-raise some money for any costs that may come up? Any advice, suggestions, tips would be helpful! THANKS!

You've got to reproduce something YOU'RE passionate about. Then you will be able to interpret it much better.

You should buy a not so expensive camera with a lot of mega pixels and a good speaker

If your doing it for school then most likely they have cameras they will let you rent/borrow. But if its something that you really want to do and you plan on making more movies then I would say you could buy a camera, but if your only making this one movie and then not doing anymore then i would say rent. Either way don't go out and buy a $10,000 camera. I would say just get a normal homemovie camera (depending on the brand and store you could get them for under $200. I think the Flip cameras are about $129 depending on the store) As for raising money i think it depends on the movie. Seeing as you are doing a 'student' film I would say just get a bunch of people that you know (to act or help with makeup and such) who will help you make your movie for free. A way you could save money is if you get your costumes from thrift stores or if you have old clothing laying around (it depends on really what kind of movie you are making)
