How do you obtain a linear graph from a parabolic distance vs angle graph?

I know that 45 degrees is the optimal angle, but I'm rusty on my math and can't figure out how to obtain a linear graph! Thanks!

It looks like you need to do a regression. Plot the square root of the parabolic distance.

I'm not sure what you mean about the optimum angle thing, and I actually don't know what you mean by anything in the description.
