    How do you find the equivalent resistance in a parallel circuit ?

    I know the equation but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
    1/Req = 1/R1+1/R2+1/R3. . .
    So can someone **explain** to me what the equivalent resistance is for a 5.0? resistor, 6.0? resistor, and 10.0? resistor connected in parallel across a 24 Volt circuit ?

    You should get an answer of about about 2.143Ohms using the formula Rt = 1/((1/5)+(1/6)+(1/10)). The voltage going through the circuit won't effect the total resistance of the circuit, so dont worry about that. When you add resistance in series the resistances just add up but in parallel the current splits up, decreasing the overall resistance.
