(Algebra) How is plotting points to graph a rational function different from other functions?

is there a different method youre supposed to use b/c you can't cross the asymptotes? as opposed to sq root/quadratic/exponential etc functions?

There is not different way. You just need to plot the equation as it would normally appear. So long as you plot the points correctly, the asymptotes will take care of themselves.
