Thread: When is the next civil war going to start and what state will it start in?

Yes, serious question.

its not going to start, as much as a black man in office scares some people its not going to start a civil war.
some idiots in alabama or one of those states that no one honestly cares enough about to be able to place on a map might preach civil war and blah blah blah but since they're not hiding behind a white hood they arent going to take action. and even if they do, a dozen inbred idiots causing some mayhem isnt a civil war.

I highly doubt there will be a civil war, but there are some people in Texas who say they want to secede from the Union (it's a small minority though).

Lets see. The first Civil War was 1861-1865. The second was 1963-1976. The third will start by next spring 2010

Untill we have a major topic that devides the nation there wont be another civil war. Contrary to popular beliefe the civlil war wasn't fought because of slavery, it was fought over states rights. It just so happens that one of the issues the states had was that the federal goverment was dictating which states could have slaves and which couldn't (as well as other things). They had a valid argument, it's just unfortunate that they tried to use slavery as an excuse to have more power on the state level.
I can't see another Civil war happening until we have a major issue come up. Legalizing Marijuana is the closest I can think of right now. Oregon has already said that they are not go to prosecute for minor offenses. In order to do any jail time in Oregon you would have to have a substansial amount in your possesion. This is the kind of thing where the state takes maters into it's own hands, that could create problems. I honestly can't even see this doing it. As spirited as the debates could be I can't see anyone going to war over the legalization of it.
Maybe if the economy keeps sliding something could come of it but I wouldn't hold my breath.
