Just that. I had intended to go to the academy, but it will suffice to say that that is no longer a realistic option for me. I am a freshmen.
I am a freshmen in High School, not college.
Help, how do I add a comment myself?
| What other ways are there to become an airfoce pilot besides the Air Force Academy? |

usmc has piolets.....look there also, they fly the harrier, or what ev. idk much bout the pilots in the marines ,but i know we got em'
you can become a pilot through ROTC if you get a degree (required for pilots) and then go through pilot training and such
Good for you, i had really wanted to be a fighter pilot but then i found out that i couldn't qualify because of my vision, so i decided to join the army and become a helicopter pilot, it's not as demanding as jets. The navy has pilots as well
you can finish college and then go into service and do it that way enlist as officer i am not sure how to do this but if you call a recruiter and ask him what you have to do they will tell you how to do it. the academy is the best way to doo this though. take care.
Attend any accredited college and get a BS in an science related field like engineering, physics, chem etc. and after graduation you can join the Air Force. I would, however, make sure that before you sign anything you get stipulated (in writing) that if you meet all the qualifications you are guaranteed flight training.
Here is something to consider: active duty pilot candidates compete against each other for open cockpits. Air Guard Pilots do not. What happens is the guard unit will have one or more open cockpits, and they recruit candidates. The one they select to send to comissioning and then pilot training, has his cockpit waiting for hime when he finishes pilot training.
So one strategy would be to graduate from college, and find a guard unit that has the plane you'd like to fly. Talk to their recruiter. You can start here: http://www.goang.com/
I'm so glad you asked!
AFROTC at the college level. Freshman in college or HS?
EDIT: My university has 100% selection for pilots for 2 years....
Check out http://www.afrotc.com. We have some fabulous scholarship...and we look at leadership in addtion to GPA.. if your GPA is okay but you have leadership up the wazoo, you are competitive...you are in a really good place to start working on a scholarship now.
check out the Virginia Military Institute and The Citadel to get a pilot slot. At VMI everybody has to do rotc and at The Citadel they have an rotc program; these are my backups in case i don't make it to a service academy.
well if you want to be an AIRFORCE pilot then you have to join the AIRFORCE., But, my fiance is in the army and he flies with the aviation unit.
