How long will it take in order to fix my future husbands papers?

My future hubby is from mexico, & i plan on marrying him in mexico since that's where he currently is..
But im wondering how long will it be to actually fix his papers.. Im planning on staying in mexico till the process is done but just want to know ahead of time how long it will take.. If you could refer me a lawyer i can actually talk to? Or if someone that has gone through this can actually share their story i would appreciate it!

Depends on how you met him, where you met him, if he was in the US before and if he was in the US illegally

If you marry him there, it could take up to 2 years to get a green card.
You could try a different approach, get him a fiance visa, travel to the US and get married, taht way you are together.
Once you are married, he can start processing his papers. it could take up to two years to get a temporary green card, that is valid for 2 years.
Sometimes it can take as little as six months to get the provisional green card.
It also depends what state you file in. You should file in a state that you can claim residency in.

Probably a year or so unless he is exclubable because of immigration violations. Additional information here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/immigrants_1340.html

You're doing the right thing. Marry him in MESSYco is the best way. Others have already told you that alot depends on him and his immigration issues.

Nena, you will be filing CR-1 for your (to-be) husband's U.S. Permanent Residence. I recommend that you visit the Mexico portal at VisaJourney and ask any other questions there so that those going through your situation can help you. Plus, I understand that filing CR-1 through Mexico is a unique case:

VJ also has the CR-1 guide to help you file on your own, without an attorney:

My husband (U.K.) and I (U.S.) went through both his K-1 (Fiance Visa) and Adjustment of Status (Green Card) processes without any legal help. This process costs enough money as it is!
