How long till we have a latin american version of Martin Luther King?

Its a very big possibility dont you think? With all the illegals wanting the government to help them out even though the government has no obligation too.

Though it's far from an accurate comparison, I think they consider "Julio Cesar Chavez" (? - the farm labor guy who is dead) to be their MLK figure. Or Carlos Mencia.

But if they want to step up with a new person ... I think that when they do ... he'll meet the same fate as MLK.

A Martin Luther King Jr. for illegal aliens? Highly doubtful that it would work out.

My belief is largely based on that there would be very little international support. Most countries support equal rights, but very little are tolerant of illegal aliens. Furthermore, there is also the problem that, as you say, the government is not doing anything illegal.

It is a nation's right to deport anyone who does not enter the country legally (I'm assuming this is what you're referring to), so what would the 'Latin Martin Luther King' argue? That nations should allow illegal aliens and give them the support that all legal aliens/citizens enjoy?

Most governments would not even tolerate the idea of it.

P.S. Guys, Cesar Chavez may have been Mexican American, but he is largely a hero of the farmer/common laborer. He is actually against illegal immigration. In fact, he's against legal immigration too.

It won't be able to happen unless the illegals somehow become legal.
These people are illegally in the USA. On top of that, many of their supporters would like the USA to believe the invasion of illegals is the country of Mexico taking back it's own land.

If there ever is some kind of leader on this mess, it will formally start the clarity that the USA is in a War with Mexico ...and you can believe, all heck is going to break loose.
Might expect some of the heavy illegal states to start trying stuff like efforts to legally succeed from the USA and join Mexico. Ironically, that's when the MLK thing you speak of will raise it's ugly head.
