How can Nick Clegg, assert a claim that the public services would collapse without the immigrant work force?

I don't understand it ,because we've never needed so many immigrants to live and work here before,so why now? Whats changed?

I don't think its British people being lazy not wanting the jobs, somehow theres thousands of immigrants on the shortlist for these NHS jobs and they get in there before our own people get a chance. As they are all filled then obviously theres no more vacancies. If there are vacancies, then chances are it will go to another immigrant.

He's right. In the 1950's London Transport would have collapsed without the influx of West Indian migrant workers. Similarly the woollen and cotton industries in Manchester and West Yorkshire with our Asian friends from the British Empire who were perfectly entitled to work here. Queen Victoria gave them all a free passport at the beginning of the 20th century.
It's the same today in the NHS. As all the workers pay tax and NI, then why is it a strain on public services?
The problem is the immigrants from Africa. They're the ones who wont work and drain the system.

Because immigrants will take jobs that welfare recipients refuse.

This is just another excuse to avoid addressing the illegal alien problem properly. Three presidents did what they should do, they rounded them up and sent them home were they belonged. Amnesty was tried on the 1980's and signed by Reagan. The politicians promised that the problem would be addresses and it would not have to happen again. Now nearly 30 years later here we are, still stuck with politicians who have no backbone to do what is necessary. They (BOTH PARTIES) make excuses and fail to address the issue. The money was appropriated for a fence. That fence is still on back order. There is now talk about amnesty (again?) for the illegals and another suggestion that the problem will not happen again (Remember the promise of the 80's?). Gather every last one you can find up and send them home. If they wish to return legally, then let them do the paperwork and enter legally. The three presidents that sent them back were Hoover (to open up jobs for out of work depression era citizens), Truman (to provide jobs for returning post WWII military) and Eisenhower (to provide jobs for returning post Korean War veterans). There is no excuse for either the Republicans or the Democrats other than being without spine to prolong this issue further. We are being invaded and losing our jobs to law breakers who have entered our country and economy illegally. They are criminals and should be treated as such.

Well the Lib-Dems would be even worse than Labour when it comes to immigration, Labour kicked open the door the Lib-Dems would kick the door in.

That's how and why he says that for all their huff and puff the Lib-Dems are sadly no friend of the working class, because its the working class who suffer the most when immigration is out of control, and it is out of control both legal and illegal immigration are frighteningly out of control.

Those who are saying the NHS would collapse without immigrants might like to consider the huge pressure immigration has put on our health service.

The majority of HIV patients treated at St Thomas' now come from African communities

TB cases have been increasing, particularly among ethnic minority communities originating from places where TB is widespread. There were 7,752 new cases of TB in England in 2007.

Then there's the fact that blacks are over represented by a factor of 6 in prisons (at a cost of almost £40,000 each pa)

Oh, and let's not forget that ethnic minorities are far more likely to claim benefits, and have larger families.

All our public services would be in better shape if it weren't for mass immigration.

Your right, they are a strain on our NHS, standards and conditions now are lower than ever. Britain survived and thrived long before we flooded this Country with immigrants, im sure it would cope and save a few billion every year if we removed our immigrant population. Not to mention free up jobs for the rest of us, thus saving the government billions in dole and jobseekers.

Anybody that thinks they are a benifit to our once mighty empire of a country needs a slap accross the face.

There are thousands of British people who are crying out for work but are not even given the opportunity of even being offered an interview. At one time if you were out of work you could do child-minding, gardening, cleaning or mini-cabbing just to make ends meet; unfortunately for the native British, regulations have taken these escape routes away. At the same time these jobs that they once did are now being given to immigrants that are trained at taxpayers expense.

When the 99p Stores opened in Hayes Middlesex all the adverts for jobs were written in Polish! The only jobs available to the British now are voluntary jobs. They can no longer afford to live where they were brought up and where their parents and grandparents once lived.

British people are voting BNP as they see it as a ray of hope of escaping from the growing poverty they find themselves and their families in.

Ever heard of the fear factor in politics. The libdems/lab/cons use this all the time. It is a way to keep control of the people and make them think that the politicians asserting this are the only ones with answers. Problem is too many people believe them. The other thing is that he isn't talking about the riots in the streets if the politicians carry on destroying the country and its people the way our politicians in the 3 main parties are doing and have been doing for decades.

Shallow, cheap, idiotic rhetoric from an imbecile who is desperate for power and the hog trough of parliament to remain as it is. I myself wouldn't vote for this idiot to run a public toilet.

The labour and tory parties agree with him and do the same as he does so lets vote them all out. Give ourselves a chance for once. Never know. We might like it.

If you want to point out lies, talk about the Conservatives or Labour but when it comes to truth .Like it or not the Liberal Democrats tell it like it is.
