How did the early people learn how to grow food?

If you think about it; its a genius invention of their time. How can someone just realize they can put a seed of a planet into the ground and it will grow into the plant? It takes times to realize it. How did the people come up with it?

The people who discovered agriculture were as intelligent, curious and imaginative as we are. If you can imagine it so could they. Most likely they would have thrown some seed that they had gathered onto the ground and have seen it germinate a few days later. Or the left some seed in a warm moist place and observed germination without soil.

Prior to the invention of agriculture, most people were hunter-gatherers. In hunter-gatherer societies it is normally the men who hunt and the women and children who gather plant food, nuts berries, roots etc. Agriculture probably grew out of gathering, since in primitive farming communities it is often women wh do the farming.

They found a seed, attempted to kill it, failed without knowing it, buried its (un)dead body, and it grew. They named it Jeffy
