China, and how did the United States respond? What was the effect of the chaotic fighting in Korea on US domestic politics and diplomacy?
The Marshall Plan by the US that helped to rebuild a war torn Europe alienated Soviets. The Soviet Union was actively aiding Chairman Mao in China, communist insurgencies in Korea and Vietnam triggered the Truman Doctrine that stated the USA would fight to contain communism which meant it would intervene to keep countries from allying with the USSR to quell what was known then as "the domino effect", undeveloped countries seeing communism as their salvation.
