    What would I need to add to plain oatmeal to make a balanced diet?

    Meat for protein and fat probably but what else? I probably want slightly higher protein and lower carbohydrates than is recommended.

    My aim is to have one food I can eat every day so as to take food selection out of my mind. Eating something I will become tired of should ensure I won't overeat.

    I'd considered drinks like Ensure, but those are much too high in calories compared to fat and protein.

    To my daily bowl of oatmeal I had 1/4 cup frozen berries (usually mixed) some protein power 1 scoop, plus 7 or 8 raw almonds and I make it with non fat milk. I cook in the micro for 2 minutes to make a delicious balanced breakfast.
