Thread: What is tartar? and What can i do to prevent it from building up on my teeth?

see i went to the dentist yesterdayand the chick said i had massive tartar build up on the back of my front bottom teeth. I did not know why or how it got there? can you help?
i have braces though and it's hard to get behind my teeth!

It gets there if you don't brush your teeth. You need to make sure you brush the front and back of your teeth.

If you don't brush and floss well in certain area, plaque build up and after 24 hours it becomes hard which is tartar. Tartar forms more in the lower back of front teeth and upper back left and right near the cheek. People always missed brushing those area. Try to use smaller edge of your toothbrush to brush the inside of your lower teeth, or use the brush that have pointy ended.
