What should I do if a post surgery drainage tube breaks while removal and recesses into stitch?

My mother had surgery and had drainage tubes that she was to take out herself after a week. When we were trying to remove one, the tube came right out. The other side's tube seemed to be stuck, and when we were pulling the tube broke, and the end recessed back under the surface of the skin. What should we do?

Save the piece of drainage tube that did come out and take it and your mother within 24 hours to the surgeon, another doctor, or emergency room. The remaining drainage tube, if it is there inside, MUST be removed or it will be a focus for infection, inflammation, or abscess formation.
