How unhealthy is it to consume over 1000 calories in a meal?

It's common. Most people do it. But I was just curious as to how badly it damages your body. And than not using them in exercise. Where does the energy go?

it doesn't kill you, but you should probably eat 1000 calorie lunch and a 600 calorie dinner... breakfast is usually in the 150-250 range.

I base this on studies of european cultures that eat their large meal at lunch time (in the US) because your body metabolizes the food better.

it could also depend... I mean ... 1000 calories of red meat vs 1000 calories of chicken is completely different.

Not if you burn off the calories, and do not go above 2500 cals in a day.
It also depends on what you are eating. 1000 cals of vegies is healthier the 1000 cals of fat and sugar.

It is common today which is why obesity is so high, a really active female who exercises (weight training, cardio and rec sports) regularly should consume apprx 2300 in a day. Overall it is total calories consumed throughout the day not at certain times.

3500 cal means a pound on your butt. Then you have to subtract 12 to 15 cal per pound that you weigh. So a normal 125 pound person would use 1800 cal a day to live. Now this is just and average if you exercise or your metabulism is high you can eat more.. But if you eat one meal of 1000 cal and 2 meals of 400 cal you will maintain your 125 pound weight... BUT if you eat 3 of those 1000 cal meals 3 times a day you will gain about a pound every 3 days. When cal aren't burnt they are stored as fat. So once in a while a 1000 meal won't make you gain as long as you exercise a little more.. or cut back at other meals.

What happens when you eat a lot of calories at once, and space your meals out, your body learns that it has to store the calories between meals in the form of fat. This is because it get the big meal then there is a long wait, where there is no intake, so the storage is to compensate for fasting periods.

if you do that three meals a day, and eat a snack at night, then you are consuming more than 3000 calories a day -- almost TWICE the recommended.

Unless you have a job that requires you to lift weights or something (like a longshoreman or farmer) you ARE going to get fat. if you DO NOT use the extra calories then they get turned to fat. In men it usually goes around their stomach. In women it is usually around teh hips and breasts.

Being obese causes high blood pressure, which leads to strokes and heart attacks.

Being obese causes high cholesterol, which leads to high blood pressure, "hardening of the arteries", "hardening of the Brain" (Alzheimers Disease), strokes, blood clots in the lungs and legs, heart attacks, and death.

Being obese leads to diabetes, which causes high blood pressure, blindness, Alzheimers Disease, kidney failure leading to dialysis, amputations, and eventually death.

Being obese leads to joint damage in the legs, which can result in artheritis, the inability to walk, and confinement to a wheelchair.

being obese lead to public humiliation. Gotta buy TWO seat on the airplane. can't fit in those amusement park rides. Can't fit in the booth at Denny's. little kids call you names and talk behind you back, "Fatty fatty two by four . . . ."

    summarized:

You are going to die. you death will be earlier than expected, and more painful than you can ever believe. You will probably end up spending the last years of your life in a wheelchair, possibly in a nursing home, but then only after years of public humiliation and hospitalization.
