Thread: Why does my dog growl when showing affection?

Every time my dog comes up to any one in the house to be pet, he starts growling. The more attention we show the louder he gets. Do a lot of dogs do this?

Yeah, my mom's dog growls any time he's excited or really happy. It scares people who don't know him. But I think it's pretty normal.
