What type of polyurethane is best for a white painted surface?

My husband custom built a desk for me and I painted it white. I got Cabot Semi-gloss water-based polyurethane to protect it with, and when I start brushing it on it was pink. Will this turn clear when it dries, or will there always be a pink tint to my white desk?

I have always used Minwax waterbased poly, and it dries clear...yours may dry clear, just test in an area that is not too visible, and let it dry.
