Is it a safe place to live? Are there supermarkets?
Alternatively, are there good places close by to move to that are public transit accessible?
Thanks for your advice!
Average neighbor not to poor but not to rich. Just average middle class citizens. Public transit is all over the place but I wouldn't depend on the bus to much since its basically rush hour traffic from morning till night in areas around the Courthouse.
Immediate neighborhood is all urban commercial. Two blocks to north begins the African-American "Overtown" neighborhood. Immediately to East is Miami-Dade College and New World School of the Arts. Immediately south is almost all office buildings & to the West are state office buildings & an expressway. There are a couple of highrise rental towers in the mix. A few blocks further east & south are the new luxury highrises that front on the Miami River & Biscayne Blvd. Most of them are half to 3/4 empty. I'm not aware of any supermarkets except for a planned "Whole Foods" that is supposed to go into one of the new Bayfront highrises. I don't know if it's in yet. Plenty of public transit as this is the commercial center of Miami. But lots of homeless & drifters. This not a place I would walk late at night. If you must live near the courthouse, stay on Brickell or in one of the new bayfront towers & take the free metro-mover to the courthouse. Owners of these condo units are desperate to rent.
