To the victims of the fire, no words can express the heartache and feelings that you have. I hope that you are able to rebuild your lives quickly. Our wishes and thoughts are with you all.

I hope the goverment and Insurance companies dispense with the red tape and get the much need aid and money to you all quickly so you can rebuild your lives. And the people and fmailes that have been affected by the injuries and death/s of loved ones, I pray that you can find the strength to get through this terrible time and never forget the happy times of your loved ones.

Detective Leane would like families who have lost loved ones and property to know that everyone in Australia shares your desperation and grief at this terrible tragedy. I encourage people to donate to the Red Cross Victoria Bushfire Appeal and anyone who thinks they may have ANY information regarding suspected arsonists should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

May the Aussie spirit prevail as you put your lives together. My family's thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones or homes during the tragedy. I was a student and spent four years with my family in Melbourne (94 - 97) and could not help but cry when I saw the devastation on TV. I know that Australians stand together in the face of adversity and know that goodwill will prevail.
    Never Give up.

I live in perth now but my kids are still in victoria near seymour i am praying they contain the fire before it heads there. My children where all born at Healsville hospital so i know the area fairly well. What a devistating time this is.My prayers go out to all who lost everything. i cant even begin to understand or comprehend why someone would delibertly light these sorts of fires. Maybe its time to bring back the death penalty.
my thoughts are with all of you in victoria hang in there guys.

" I'm sorry for your loss."
You're stunned and hurt now -a time to grieve, but you will be better.
My sympathy won't mean very much to you perhaps.
But all I wanted- after a tragic loss of a loved-one and suddenly displaced from home, was for someone to say this to me.
It put me in perspective again -where I was, so to speak, on a new page and it allowed me to begin again.

Somehow you will find your own way of coping - running on empty for a while but please do accept help as it is offered. Don't think you're on your own in this. Get what you need from all the agencies available.
And ask anybody to help even if it's for the mundane of tasks.
Everyone will be pleased to help in any way we can and later you'll
    do it automatically.
You survived the horror - yes it's horrible what happened, but there's a reason for your life to go on now.
It won't be the same but there is a big job to be done.
There are measures as we speak to mittegate against the chances of this type of bushfire being as severe and as deadly again.

That might not be a comfort to you now...
Focus on the future -hang in there and talk to everyone about your own story. Discuss the possibilities of what you want to do next.
In time you'll figure it out and step towards settling down again.

Ask the kids to write a story about the fire or let them draw and paint.
It will draw out their fears and calmly take them through the rough patches. You might keep a diary too - and vent your own feelings.

Where ever life takes you God Bless you brave and wonderful aussies.
