What is the earliest you can neuter your cat?

I have a 4 month old kitten and want to know what age I should wait to have him neutered. I dont want to wait to long or do it to early.

Generally six months is the time but you can have it done as early as 12 weeks.

I think that they can do it at 6 months old now. It just depends on the personal preferance of your veterinarian.

Most vets will do it at about 6 months. i wouldn't do it too much later than that because you don't want him to get in the habit of spraying.

Now. They are neutering cats as early as 6 weeks now. You don't want to wait past 4 months. Good Luck !

Four months is the perfect time to have your cat neutered.
Some Vets will do altering when a cat weighs two lbs. I personally think that is to small. If you wait much longer your cat may start spraying, this can happen as early as 5-6 months. It's much better to have it done before they start spraying, that way it' isn't a learned behavior pattern you need to break.

Most vets will ask that you wait until six months, but some will at four. Ask your local vet which one's better for your kitty. They'll let you know.

The best age for spaying or neutering is at six months of age. This is usually before females go into heat and males start spraying.
