I need to recarpet a room that adjoins a room that has blue/grey carpet. What is the best color to do the new room? Can I also do blue in there, but maybe a darker blue? Would beige/tan look dumb?
Really you should go by the color of the wall in the room you are re carpeting, the next rooms carpet isn't a factor, (i assume that you will have a threshold of some kind (a metal or wood strip over the two carpets joining seam?))
Go to this site:
http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/visualizer/
and launch the color visualizer.
Then choose which room you want to paint.
Then choose the style room that resembles yours the closest.
Then start dragging the colors around.
You can even change the color of the furniture.
And the paint is a great quality.
I'd say it's probably best to match it as closely as possible, but if you don't want to that's okay too; as long as the two colors don't clash together it will look fine, if a bit choppy.
