    what is the best way to clean the outside surface of a black oven?

    brillo pads don't work as they leave permanent scratch marks. any suggestions? I need help!

    I'd check with two or three people who do this at local apartment complexes.
    Likely, they know better because of experience -- or some of your other answerers.
    I've tried that EZ off oven cleaner with so -so results.
    The self cleaning ovens rely on extremely high temperatures to burn residue
    and seem to do well. Maybe, just leave yours on high [both burners] for
    several hours then allow to cool for and hour or so before opening. CAUTION:
    CHECK FIRST, that procedure may be a FIRE HAZARD.

    try rubbing alcohol I use it on stainless steel surfaces also
    It will cut grease and leaves no streaks
