Thread: What is the best item to put in your lip when you pierce it?

I'm gonig to re-pierce my lip, please don't give me any crap about doing it. Yes, I'm doing it myself, I know how dangerous it is but I'm going to. Would it be better to put a barbell earring in, or maybe a hoop? I don't have time to get out and buy it either. So maybe the best way to make a make shift w/e for my lip. It'd be really nice for your suggestions on hwo to pierce it, like with what [hence a needle, or something else]. I know how to keep it clean. Is there anytihng I should do in preperation for it? Last time I just shoved a needle through my lip and stuck a normal earring in it, BIG mistake the post was way too short. I know all about the swelling that could last up to two weeks, and the infections that could come alone.

Should I burn the needle first then put it in cool water. I know to wash my hands and face.

What is the best mouthwash to use once you pierce you lip, and how often should you clean the piercing and the actual earring in your lip?

hoops look better, but barbell's are better starting ones. my friend used a needle that he disinfected in alcohol. he didn't use mouthwash

Yeah burn the needle first. Then just stick it through. If I had my lip done I would do a barbell. The hoops look kinda tacky. And you should clean it like 2-3 times a day. That's what I have to do for my ear I just got done.

Just dont use copper wire in your lip.
And for mouth wash, if the alcholol burns, use the type without it.
And with the lip assesories, I would suggest having something thats real, as in gold, or silver, the barbells look good on men. The fake jewlery can swell the skin.
And sterilize the needle, and burn it too.
Clean, clean, and clean the piercing a couple times a day.
And use vasoline to help the needle go through the skin, inside and out your mouth.

Make sure to only keep surgical steel (not sterling silver or other crap) in the piercing!!!

Just keep it clean with lots of warm water. Alcohol (inlc. mouthwash) will irritate any open wound and prevent healing. Only use that occasionally (like maybe weekly). Again,
just keep it clean with lots of warm water - like during your shower. Oh, and have good oral hygiene in general. =)

I still think self-piercing is a mistake. The angle you pierce at will affect how jewelry sits and how it looks. Just save up and go to a decent professional. Regardless, ONLY wear surgical steel - you can get it in lots of colours.
