Thread: Is Universal Studios Orlando busy during the end of Dec and beginning of Jan?

My family is planning on going to Universal Studios, Florida from Dec 28, 2010 until Jan 3, 2011. Would this be a bad time to go or will the crowds be thinning out? How about Jan 1 to Jan 7? Would this be preferable to the end of Dec?

I would do Jan 1 to Jan 7 because in late December people are there for Christmas and its kind of busy but its not super busy like Disneyworld. Have fun!

The Christmas crowds will still be there from the 28-3rd. Generally people start going home around New Year's, For 2011, since New Year's is on a Saturday, people won't have to go back to work/school until that Monday, so the crowd may hang around just a couple days longer than normal.

So anyway, the answer to your question is that Jan 1-7 will be preferable. The first couple days may still be quite crazy, but then it will thin significantly and be very pleasant.

between dec 21st and january 1st is the absolute busiest time of the entire year for orlando area atttractions. so dec 28th to jan 3rd really is not a good time to go if you are wanting to avoid major major crowds. in fact during that time the theme parks tend to fill to capacity by noon and they don't let anyone else in until enough people leave. i would suggest getting there very early in the morning and not plan on leaving at all during the day until you are completely done.
january 1st to january 7th would be better but still you are going to find huge crowds until about the 3rd.
and if you plan on going during either of those times you need to book your vacation NOW. you may think its pretty early but its actually gettting quite late for you to be booking a vacation to that area for that time.
i whent from dec 27th to jan 2nd from 2008-2009 and i booked the package in the beginning of july and wouldn't have gottne the package i wanted if someone else had not just cancelled for those exact dates.
