How strict are the airlines about dimensions and weight of baggage?

We leave tomorrow out of Ohare-Chicago flying with Turkish Airlines for an international flight. Just wondering if anyone knows how strict they are or even other international carriers. Thx
Thanks everyone. We were able to move the weight around and it should be good. Just worried about the dimensions. They are all regular bags, but MARC T I hope you are right!

Extremely! If you are over by weight or size you will be charged.

It all depends on the carrier and what the employee weighing your baggage ate the night before. It can be very arbitrary. To be safe, follow the guidelines of each airline you will be traveling on. I took a regional flight to LAX with absolutely no question about my baggage weight. When I checked into my international flight, I got charged for extra baggage. Had I known this would happen, I could have easily sent stuff back home with the person who drove me to the airport. In fact, I now carry the luggage regulations for each airline I'm traveling on just so there are no surprises. You would be amazed how many times I avoided extra charges when I had these in hand.

Checked baggage is weighted, and they will very likely charge you extra if it's above your allowance; this is standard practice for all I know. I believe airlines will be less pedantic on the dimensions, unless your bags have a very unusual shape that makes it hard to transport them.

Depends on the airline and how full the flight is.
