How much money is typical to spend on a Honeymoon?

What is the price range of an average honeymoon (on a tropical island)?
I know it depends on how much money people have, but still, even some people with little money seem to spend a lot on weddings/honeymoons.
Erin, I'm not looking to save money at all.

If you don't have much money, a tropical island isn't the route to go. My fiance and I are going to St Louis (a three hour drive for us) for our honeymoon. Our budget was initially $2000, but his dad is giving us his reward points for the hotel, and so we will be spending $500 - $1000 on entertainment, food, and souvenirs. I expect we'll come out closer to the $500, though, for our five-night honeymoon...

As much as you can afford - the important thing is not to come home to debt as the honeymoon will then become a burden and be remembered for that.

I think it also depends highly on what kind of accommodations, activities, etc....you will be spending money on and what is important to you. It depends on which you'd like to spend the most money on. Whenever my husband and I go on a trip we stay at the Ritz and that in itself is (average of $700 per night for the suite that we like). We put most of our money on our hotel when we go on trips because that is what's important to us.

I am not trying to be rude and not trying to be sarcastic, I was just wondering if you're not looking to save money at all, why are you asking? I know a couple who spent $1000 on their honeymoon and another couple who spent $27000. So if you are not looking in to saving money then the amount should not matter.

Depends on many things. The island, where you want to stay, what all you want to do and the time of the year. You just need to do the research for where you want to go. You can look for a nice resort that is all inclusive, that will save you money on drinks and food. Then if you want to relax and check out the sites that's not going to cost you a lot, but if you want to rent a boat, snorkel, ski drive, or anything else like that its going to be expensive. Just look around for the deals and figure out whats important to you and your hubby. But for a week plus airfare I say at least 2000-3000.

Tobago, which is an example of a tropical island, has honeymoon packages ranging from $700 US to many thousands per week. Take a look below.

Whatever is comfortable for your budget. For instance, you could go to Sandals for ~$1500 or you could go to Bora Bora where $300 a night is a "budget" hotel. My suggestion? Go somewhere you have never been and enjoy yourselves, no scrimping, this is your only honeymoon! We spent about $75,000 which was well within our budget.
