How long is a respectable amount of time to remain single after ending a 3-year relationship?

I broke up with my girlfriend of 3 years because I fell out of love. We remain amicable, but she's obviously still hurting.

Whereas I intend to remain single for a while, I was wondering how long you guys consider to be a respectable amount of time to leave before dating and such?

I guess six months would be an appropriate amount of time. However, if you "fell out of love," then you have already basically moved on. Why wait just to obey society? Whenever you feel that you are ready to start dating again, start dating. It's no one else's business who and when you date. For all they know, your previous relationship could have been dead 6 months before you ended it, and you two were just trying your best to see if it could work. Whenever you've moved on from your ex, with no spare feelings or regrets, then you can start dating again. Good luck with everything!!
