How important are foot peddles on a piano?

I want my 13 year old daughter to start piano lessons, the problem is that we have a small apartment so I want to get her a nice keyboard for at home. How important is it to have the foot peddles at home?

    Thanks for your help.

The foot pedals are not so important for a beginner, but later on, when the music demands the use of foot pedals, they will become more important, then it will be time to think about moving up.

    I hope this helps...!

my mom originally got me a keyboard, but we switched it to a piano when my piano pieces began to get more complicated.

the pedals are important if you need them. i really use they dampening key a lot. it makes the music more smooth.

you should get it if you daughter a piano keyboard with pedals. it also help to have it because you can control the volume.

pedals aren't so important as long as you can still hear the sound of the keyboards...

    Hmmm.....
    Foot peddles.....
Foot peddles is very important for a person who can play a piano.
This is because the pedal makes the music to sound smoother. Piano musics are very often made to play smoothly.
95% of pop music that uses piano as one of the instrument uses the pedal because it makes it sound much more.... ummmm.... how do I explain?..... ummm.... makes it sound more filled. I hope you know what i mean.

To a beginner like your daughter, it is not important to have the pedal because:
1.) Beginner songs are not made to be played with the pedal
2.) Even if your daughter plays beginner songs with pedals, it won't sound very good.
3.) It is hard because you need to know when to press and let go of the pedal.

If i were you, i would just get a pedal because in the future she will need it. So, you won't have to buy a pedal the next time : )
Besides, she can start practicing on using the pedal at an early stage. Practicing more doesn't harm anyone.
