How do you make the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich?

Please try this recipe with your son!
My grandma made these with me when I was young and I loved them!

Grilled Peanut Butter, Jelly and Banana Sandwich

8 slices good quality white bread
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup peanut butter, smooth or crunchy
    1/2 cup grape jelly
    2 ripe bananas, sliced

Butter the bread slices on 1 side with butter and place them butter side down. Spread 4 slices with peanut butter and top with the banana slices. Spread the remaining slices with jelly and put them, jelly side down, on top of the bananas. Press them gently to flatten them slightly.

Place each sandwich on a preheated panini press and grill until the bread is toasted, about 5 minutes. Alternately, preheat a dry cast iron or non stick pan. Place the sandwich in the pan and weight it down with another pan or a clean brick wrapped in foil. Grill 5 minutes, turn the sandwich over, re-weight it, and grill for another 5 minutes. Serve immediately.

i did it with my friends once:
we paired up and one person was blindfolded
the other person tried to direct the person without using words.

    it was the best ever!

You need Reese's Peanut butter and Grape Jelly. Mix half PB and half Jelly in a bowl. Mix it well. Put it on bread and cut the ends off. That is my favorite.

start with quality ingredients...wonder bread, skippy creamy peanut butter, and welch's grape jelly. (actually, welch's grape jam is best, but you asked for a peanut butter and JELLY sandwich)

first, never keep your peanut butter out of the refrigerator, it is nasty...
second, consequently, you may need to stir the peanut butter with a butter knife first to get it softer, but it is worth it.
third, generously spread the peanut butter on one side of one slice of wonder bread.
fourth, generously spread the jelly (or jam) onto the peanut butter which has been spread onto the bread...never and i repeat NEVER spread the jelly on the other naked slice of bread...this makes pb & j sandwiches dry and yucky...
fifth, place a second naked slice of wonder bread onto of the bread with the pb & j on it...
sixth, if the child is under 15, cut it in half diagonally...if the person is over 15 years old, cut it in half (not diagonally)
seventh, always eat the sandwich with the jelly closest to the roof of your mouth, and the peanut butter closest to your tongue.
eighth, always eat it with a very very cold glass of milk.

i know you will all think i am crazy, but all of these rules really matter...i am telling you there is no better food on earth...it is so simple that it is absolute genius...

Peanut butter on one side, Strawberry preserves on the other
Or you can use Goober [which is very yummy]
    Serve with milk & cookies.

Peanut butter has to go on both pieces of bread so that the jelly ends up in the middle! The best!!!

Well when my mom would make it she would use strawberry jelly and cut it in half. And serve it with a glass of milk. And I thought that was the best PB&J sandwich in the whole wide world.

I read all the answers before mine and I only read one that had the "secret" ingredient to the perfect "PBJ". Two slices of bread (your choice..wheat or white) peanut butter on both slices. Thinley slice a banana and place the slices on a paper plate. Spread some jelly or jam on the peanut buttered bread, both sides. Use some of that "I think it's butter" in a squeeze bottle and coat the bananas and sprinkle some cinnamon on them. Place the banana slices on the bread and put the two halves together. cut the crust off or not.

Way back in the really old days, before you were even born, we would take a bowl and put the peanut butter in it and add the jam/jelly and mix it up. Then butter two slices of bread and put the mix in it. It was pretty good.
