How do you get your horses mane to be a mohawk?

We do jumpers, and i wanted to try a new look since his mane has grown 9 inches this winter and is almost too long to be pulled easily. How can you get your horses mane into a mohawk? Not roaching it, but leaving enough hair that it kinda falls down, but still stands up.

I would suggest cutting it veryy short, almost roaching it, then it will grow back and stand up. Like when you keep a bridle path untrimmed, it starts standing up..
If you just try to cut/pull it short, it may not work. I have tried cutting it to stand and it failed, so i just cut it all off and let it grow back.

I used to do this to my pony, it's soo cute! Unfortunately I cannot do it with my mare now as her mane is too thin. Unless your horse has a very thick mane, it just won't stand up. However, if your lucky enough to have a full mane to work with, just pull the mane to a short enough length to stick up. Work slowly so he doesn't end up with no hair,

Just cut it pretty short and if it doesn't stand up, consider cuting it almost like a fjord's mane so it will grow longer and stand up. Then just keep trimming it before it flops down so you have no worries about it getting too long.

Be cutting it really short. I cut my horses mane way too short last night, and now he has a mowhawk.

Cut it really short. Like maybe 2 of 3 inches. Use scissors or the large guards for a pair of clippers. I keep all my horses manes in a mow-hawk like that.
