Thread: How do I start off my wedding reception?

We're having a small, private wedding ceremony and then heading to a restaurant to celebrate with all our friends and family. Because it's at a restaurant, it's not a typical reception. Does anyone have any suggestions for kicking off the reception right with people who will just be seeing us for the first time?

Welcome drinks at the bar

The best man can welcome everybody, and offer congratulations with a toast. If either of the Dad's want to speak they can. Then you eat, and leave if you're ready. It sounds really nice.

The new "Thing" to do is to come dancing to your favorite song. Something really hyped and as they are introducing you guys you can "Break it down". Seems to set the tone for the night and also makes you to wind down for the night. Congrats and good luck on your special day

Have the best man get there first and make sure everyone is comfortable including drinks.When you arrive you should go to each person/couple and thank them for coming to help you celebrate.Even though it is your special day you still must be polite and gracious.
