How do I get packing grease out of a white dress shirt?

I was unbolting a new server rack at work, and was putting the bolts in my breast pocket for safekeeping...then I realized they'd greased them with a light yellow, semi-viscous substance. How do I get what appears to be a petroleum based yellow grease off a white cotton shirt?

Well - obviously you can try soap and bleach. Failing that scissors is the only way.

wash in hot cycle with Surf. if that doesn't work then spray some good stain remover. but holding it under hot running water and then washing with Tide or Surf will get it off. u can also hand rub some detergent on it before putting it in the machine.

Try using Shout Advanced Gel in warm water on the delicate cycle. Leave the gel to set in for a few hours before washing. If it comes out the first time, use a Clorox bleach pen if there are any stains left over. Don't tumble dry the shirt until the grease has gone. (Don't wash in hot water, you'll shrink your shirt.)

A stain remover called Era is also really good. Good luck.

Grab a small can of lighter fluid and blot the grease away. one you are happy with it, wash as usual and HANG to dry. Putting it in the dryer will set this stain forever. Once dry hold it up to the light to check for more stain and repeat if you need to.Don't put it in the dryer until you are satisfied the stain is gone

Try Avon's Skin So Soft. That stuff works on getting grease off my hands after all else fails. Of course, then you have to wash that out.

Well, I seem to be touting the benefits of Dawn dish detergent today... lol....

Mix a little Dawn dish detergent, and some warm water, and this should clean the grease out of the pocket. Rinse with clean water, and you should be ready to wash the shirt in the laundry. Ive done this several times as a service tech, on the road, hehehe, and had a limited amount of clothing with me. I could use this method to get out grease, etc, in the hotel bathroom sink or shower, then rinse the shirt, and then wash it with the rest of my laundry.

If you don't want to tackle cleaning the shirt yourself, you can always take it to the dry cleaners, and they can remove the grease for you.

    Have Fun

    Believe it or not,..baby powder.
Put it on any grease mark, let sit overnight, pre treat w/ soap, and even in cold water it has worked EVERY time for me.

Make sure you shake the excess powder off before putting in the washer, it could clog the pump after a while.

use waterless hand cleaner, rub it in until it liquifies then run the shirt through a regular wash cycle.
