How to convince my principal to let me start a school newspaper?

I really want to start one. How do I convince my principal?
Should I do it at orientation (a day a week before school where we meet teachers and*stuff) or when school starts? How should I present the idea to her?
    Thank you guys so much!!!

I'm on newspaper, its fun. You should talk to a trusted teacher who you would want to be an advisor or sponsor. Gather a few students to back you up or be on it with you and put together a small prototype to show them. Present all this in an appointment setting to be professional. If you have multiple principals go to the head and if this doesn't work get a nicer one to back you up and try again. Find good reasons for the school to spend money on this, say you can raise funds through school appropriate ads( like my school), and show the affects of a paper on other schools. It's a good way to get info to students, connect them more personally to staff, and make the school a community. If this doesn't work go to the board of education in your district! Hope this helps and gl!!
