How can you tell if roller skate wheels will work on your skates?

I've been skating in derby for a few months now and I want to change my wheels. How can I tell if another type of wheel will attach properly on my skate? I don't know if this is a stupid question haha.

It seems like a reasonable question, but I don't know the answer. If you are on a roller derby team, are there other people there who are knowledgeable about quad skates and accessories? I would guess that the hockey category includes a lot of people who know inline skates, but probably not many who know quad skates.

Make sure it is the right size and durometer (hardness / gripness) for the surface.
Bearings play a role too depending on thickness of chassis / frame on your skate.
