How can i stop my german sheperd from biting, jumping, and just all around bad behavior?

He is about 1 year and a 1/2 old now. He is not aggressive however he always seems to be excited and constantly misbehaves. We did spoil him growing up so it is soley our fault for this behavior. We would hate to give him up. We also have 2 other dogs that behave just fine but fight with the GSD.

wow did you answer your own question? He obviously had no training or rules when growing up since you spoiled him. And your only thought is to give him up!
Its called training rules, discipline. It would have been much easier to do when the dog was under 50 pounds. Now its time to deal with the disaster you have created! TRAIN THE DOG!

Take the dog and the family to obedience training. You all need training. He also probably needs more exercise. HOw about agility training. GSD are very smart and will like a challenge. Cheap agility training kits are available online.

I have two german shepherds and am about to possibly get a 3rd so I know this feeling. Being patient is going to be key...get some of those little treats that they use in training classes and when he jumps, bites, or does something bad...sternly say NO and walk away and ignore him. Every time he does something good goes outside and pottys, plays fetch, etc...reward him with a treat...before you give it to him though make him sit. He will learn a lot of watching your other dogs behavior so if you also reward them for good behavior while he isn't getting rewarded then eventually he is going to put two and two together. German Shepherds are very smart dogs and tend to catch on quick. Part of it is he is wanting attention because even though he is an adult he still has a lot of puppy left in him. I have a 3 year old shepherd who still acts like a puppy. I hope this helps! Good Luck!!
