Thread: How can I get the smell of spilt perfume out of the carpet?

I spilt nearly half a bottle of perfume on the bedroom carpet and it is very overpowering and now have to sleep with my door open. Can anyone suggest a way of getting the smell out of the carpet.

I have already scrubbed it with soap and water but to no avail.

Has anyone tried bicarbonate of soda for anything like this?

you need some pure alcohol from a chemist.
This will dilute the perfume oils and then you'll need to soak the liquid up with an absorbent towel.

Remember this will be highly inflammable, no smoking or naked flames until the alcohol has evaporated!
