How can I buy food that the grocery store is about to throw out?

Like shrimp salad. It's 11.99 a lb. Too much, but I'd pay half that for the stuff they're throwing out.

Very low chance of that happening, at least not at a big box grocery store. There are legality issues of health and safety. If they sell food that needs to be thrown out and it makes someone sick they could have a lawsuit on their hands. This is why big box stores throw out "good" appearing foods as opposed to donating them to a shelter in need. I don't like the policy but that's how it is. You do however have a better chance of possibly getting a store to work with you that is a "mom and pop" or smaller local groceries.

It's your choice, but if its out of date, don't buy a 'large' amount, or it could possibly be wasted, Hope this helped - unless its like all packed in the box and stuff then NO.
