How bad generally is traffic back-up going into NYC via GW bridge on Sunday afternoon 1 to 3ish?

I am driving into Manhattan next weekend. Yes, I need to drive in this time, so I am planning my arrival for Sunday afternoon between 1 and 3 instead of waiting to come in on Monday. Is Sunday traffic into the city via the GW better than the weekday traffic?

Sunday traffic is usually better than weekday rush hour, but it can still get pretty bad.

The weekends are generally better than during the week, but it's seldom "good." Try to hit the bridge closer to 1PM than 3PM, which starts to be the time people come home from weekend trips.

Listen to the traffic reports on AM radio every 10 minutes 1010 WINS on the ones (10:01, 10:11 etc)
880 WCBS on the eights (10:08) 1130 WBBR on the fives (10:05) Check the schedule for the Yankee games, traffic for the games can be horrible. Stay off the rt 80/95 approach to the bridge. if you do use 80/95 stick to the local lanes rather than the express lanes.

    Good Luck

Miserable, but MUCH better than weekday traffic. It's better earlier on a Sunday rather than later, but the traffic on the GWB is always bad. Depending on where in the city you are going and where you are coming from, the Holland Tunnel or Tappan Zee Bridge would be alternatives to consider, as the traffic through those crossings is usually much better than the traffic found on the GWB.
