Can I substitute stick margarine for butter in buttercream frostin?

I baked a cake and was planning to frost it with buttercream frosting but discovered that all I have on hand is stick margarine!! Is this okay? Will it work?

Yes, I think so. I never have butter and always use stick margarine in place of it.

I will lack flavor. It's not often I make buttercream icing but when I do I want it to be perfect.

If you can make a run to the store for butter it would be better with butter. Everything is!

    Good luck!

It will work fine; I do it often (butter a tad expensive). The flavour isn't as yummy as butter, but it's still good.
