How can I set lights to turn on and off automatically every 12 hours?

I'm wiring some lights in my room to grow tomatoes, and I need them to cycle on and off every 12 hours. I'm not always able to be home at the right times, so is there a way that I can wire something with them that will let me set it to 12 hour cycles?
    Any input is appreciated!

You can get a timer at most house ware stores that allow you to set a given period of time. You could start at noon and shut off at midnight. I use them on lamps when I go away.

    get one of these: http://www.google.com/search?q=wired+in+light+timer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&biw=1280&bih=795&tbm=shop&source=hp& q=in+wall+light+timer&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&b av=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=435e185a007639bf

i dont know how expensive they are, but a local walmart, lowes or home depot will have them. just ask someone when you walk in and they'll help you find it.

There are light timers. You plug them into an outlet and then plug the light into them. Jewish individuals use them on Shabbos because they can't use electricity.

An example: but definitely not the only type.
