Thread: How can I get free apps without putting my credit card number in itunes?

I just got the new Ipod touch with the camera.And I don't know how to jailbreak it.

Fortunately, jailbreaking isn't necessary for this. Apple has a page on their web site that completely answers your question. I lead a friend of mine through these steps who was wanting to know the exact same thing. A link to the web page is in the sources section below.

I have an iPhone and have never had to enter my credit card number - i prefer to purchase an iTunes gift card and redeem that instead. Never tried to download an free app before I entered the card number. Maybe you could just get a cheap one - $10 - and redeem that and it would free it up for you to purchase the apps - it might just need a form of payment listed...just in case you ever did try to purchase something.
