Thread: What are the pros and cons in being a software engineer?

I am looking into getting a degree in software engineering, but I have heard that the job is extremely stressful and requires one to continue to learn different program languages. I want to know if the stress is worth it. If not, I was also looking at becoming a dentist, and that also requires going to school for a longer time. I would appreciate any information on the two jobs, so I'm asking for everything and anything from job availability to working conditions.

Well, you are going to be pasty white and have no life. Also problems with your wrists if you don't properly care for them. I took 2 semesters of programming, its never get "easier", just more complicated and brings a stronger headache. You really have to be dedicated to being a software engineer.
