I want to know what websites my kids are going to but they erase the history and the cookies. Is there any way to protect these?
That is a good question. The best thing would be to find some software that backs up history/cookies to a different location, or to write a simple script that would perform that. There are several keylogging programs that you can track the kiddies with.
Actually, so that you won't tip them off. Try using a keylogger which will record everything that they type in the computer which will be including the website address or google searh they type. You can download one from www.download.com
i don't know of any easy way to set that up but if u want to outsmart them u can go into the registry and view them
Click on Start, then Run.
Type regedit in the box provided.
In Regedit navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Int... Explorer\Typed URLs
expamd each section w/ + sign
click on typed url's and there they r
if u r using vista i believe it is start>search>type in regedit
this will work as long as they r using ur acct
u got my curiosity up w/ this question
found a registry fix
You could add a Registry restriction that would disable that function.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Control
Panel]
"History"=dword:00000001
Note: to affect *all* users add the below:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Int ernet Explorer\Control
Panel]
"History"=dword:00000001
Value Data: (0 = disable restriction, 1 = enable restriction
Let the rascals "wipe" their traces. NEVER USE A KEY LOGGER.
The solution is as follows: there some files called used.dat and index.dat that regardless what they do will store ALL their browsing history.
Get Index.dat Analyzer 2 from www.download.com This tool will help you analyze the browsing history.
Now, this is only for browsing history. Whatever they are doing with instant message is not stored here.
If you need that info for some reason, then a keylogger is the second option.
