What is the difference between dipole-dipole forces and van der waals forces?

    Confused.
    Yup, I've got chem tomorrow.

Questions often ask you if there is a dipole-dipole force present or VDW so I get confused.

Dipole-Dipole is constant, VDW is an induced dipole dipole caused by a disruption in the electron cloud so it is no longer even. VDW is only temporary though. You got AS Chem tmz then?

a Dipole - dipole inteacionis a permenant bond and is stronger than van der waals forces. van dewaals forces are always present sand they are caused when there is an imbalance in the electron cloud.

check this out, its very helpful

ive got the chemistry exam tomorrow too......very scared.....gonna faillll
