How might a solid mixture containing two major components be separated?

Usually one components with a small amount of an insoluble contaminat added can be separated with filtration. But how do we separated mixtures with two major components?

That depends on what the components are. Is one still soluble and one insoluble? Then the concentration is irrelevant.
