    How does the pituitary gland interact with the endocrine system?

    It's not going into any detail in my Human Sexuality book on how the pituitary gland and the endocrine system interact between each other to release hormones. Can someone please explain this to me?
    Thanks, but I understand what pituitary gland is, I need to know how it reacts (work with) with the endocrine system.

    Well the pituitary gland sends out hormones, telling specific hormones different tasks. This includes how you think, what to do in a situation, how to interact with people, to understand what's going on around you, and to have strong feelings for men/women. They also control these functions: The pituitary hormones help control some of the following body processes:

    * Growth
    * Blood pressure
    * Some aspects of pregnancy and childbirth including stimulation of uterine contractions during childbirth
    * Breast milk production
    * Sex organ functions in both women and men
    * Thyroid gland function
    * The conversion of food into energy (metabolism)
